George E. Buckingham is an attorney of Counsel at Yoder,
Ainlay, Ulmer & Buckingham, LLP. He joined the firm in 1965.
A partner for many years, Mr. Buckingham assumed a slightly more relaxed
schedule in 2004. He continues to provide legal services to our clients
as well as spending more time with his family.
Mr. Buckingham's practice includes tax and non-tax aspects
of estate planning and related areas, including drafting of wills and
trusts, structuring wealth transfers to charitable and non-charitable
recipients, forming family partnerships and other business entities,
administering estates, preparing and filing estate and gift tax returns,
and representing clients in audits of federal estate and gift tax returns
and Indiana inheritance tax returns. In addition, Mr. Buckingham
practices in the areas of corporate law and real estate law.
From 1963 to 1965, Mr. Buckingham served as a law clerk
to the United States Court of Appeals in Chicago, Illinois. He
received his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1963, and
he was on the Board of Editors of the Indiana Law Journal. He
received a B.S. degree in business from Indiana University in 1960.
Mr. Buckingham was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1963.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
Mr. Buckingham has served as officer and director of
several charitable organizations, including the following: past
President, Board of Directors, Goshen General Hospital; past President,
Board of Directors, Goshen General Hospital and Health Care Foundation;
past President, Goshen Rotary; Vice President, Board of Directors, Goshen
Boys and Girls Club; and Secretary, Board of Directors, Oakwood Academy.
Further, he has participated in many community fund drives, including
the following: Co-Chairman of the 1998 Goshen Boys and Girls Club
Capital Campaign; Chairman of the 1995 Capital Campaign, United Way
of Elkhart County; Chairman, Goshen Division, 1994 Capital Campaign,
United Way; and Co-Chairman, 1989 Goshen Community Pool Fund Drive.
Mr. Buckingham is a member of the Goshen City, Indiana
State and American Bar Associations.
SPECIAL RECOGNITION
In late 2004, Mr. Buckingham received a special award from Goshen Health System
for his outstanding work on their behalf. The President's Award of Excellence
is a coveted honor which is awarded annually to a Goshen Health System
employee who has gone above and beyond achieving excellence in four
categories: best people, customer satisfaction, high quality, and low
cost. Upon rare occasions, the President's Award of Excellence is bestowed
on a community member who has demonstrated the same level of outstanding
service to Goshen Health System.
