AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
WALK AT OX BOW PARK RAISES $65,000
TO FIGHT HEART DISEASE
On October 2, 2011, the Elkhart East Division of the American Heart Association held a walk at Ox Bow Park to raise money for the American Heart Association. Attorneys and staff of Yoder Ainlay Ulmer & Buckingham were among the nearly 300 people who gathered for the walk.
This year’s Heart Walk at Ox Bow Park raised almost $65,000 for the fight against cardiovascular disease. Over the last 40 years, the American Heart Association has contributed $44 million in funds toward cardiovascular disease research in Indiana.

2010 PARALEGAL OF THE YEAR

Cherylan Shearer, corporate paralegal at the law firm of Yoder Ainlay Ulmer & Buckingham, LLP in Goshen, Indiana, has been named The Michiana Paralegal Association (MPA) Paralegal of the Year for 2010. This annual award recognizes excellence in individual paralegals and demonstrates to the community the strengths and commitment of professional paralegals.
Ms. Shearer has been with Yoder, Ainlay, Ulmer & Buckingham for 16 years. Her primary area of expertise is in the initial set-up of organizations including for-profit, not-for-profit, and limited liability companies. She is also involved with mergers and acquisitions, and maintaining record books for corporate clients of the firm.
Ms. Shearer received her paralegal certificate, with honors, from Indiana University at South Bend in June 1999. She has presented seminars to paralegal students enrolled in the Business Organization class at IUSB.
Since 1999, Ms. Shearer has been an active member of the MPA where she has served on the Board of Directors, as the Membership Chair and as the National Federation of Paralegal Association's (NFPA) Primary. She is the NFPA Director of Region III for the 2010-2011 term. She is also a member of the Paralegal Section of the Indiana State Bar Association.
